Dewani ‘wants to clear his name’ - Crime & Courts - IOL | Breaking News | South Africa News | World News | Sport | Business | Entertainment | IOL.co.za: "Shrien Dewani, the English millionaire accused of ordering his wife Anni’s “honeymoon murder” in Cape Town last November, may return to South Africa voluntarily if he is granted bail “up to the date of his final appeal”.
In an interview to be broadcast on BBC Radio One’s Inside Out West at 7.30pm tonight (9.30pm South African time), friend of the family Hasmukh Velji Shah, who said he was speaking on behalf of the Dewanis, explained that Shrien, 31, might fly back to Cape Town “to clear his name” without the need for the much-hyped extradition hearing scheduled for the City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
Shah, who has known Dewani since he was a student at Manchester University, told the BBC: “There are certain issues and questions and guarantees which must be answered and given, such as, if Shrien were to go to South Africa, would he be given bail?
“It is for Shrien’s legal team and the South African authorities to discuss this and agree (on a) programme."
